DC Energy?

Anybody hear much about this firm recently? I've checked wso, elitetrader, quantnet, etc. but most everything is from a few years back when it seemed like business in energy trading was more profitable/less regulated.

Is it still a firm worth working at straight out of college? I've heard bad things about their 2 year restrictive non compete.

How would it compare with working at a larger prop firm like SIG?

Thanks in advance!

They are pretty quant heavy and specialize in speculating on FTRs. So i dont think they would be heavily affected by regulation. I'm not sure if they even actually trade power; real time or term.

If you get really good at trading FTRs, you can make good money. I heard of a few ex-Direct Energy guys who got scooped up by a few hedge funds. But with that 2 year non compete...not so sure

Your probably better off working at a large prop firm unless your dead set on trading power (I find it fascinating) but your better off asking someone who knows more than me.

I would also like to know. Did you get invited to their superday on Thursday as well?

I have a different Thursday/Friday for superday, but yeah I'm in sorta the same boat as you!

Yeah I'll openly admit that I don't know that much in the way of energy trading, it was just sort of the vibe I got from the more recent glassdoor reviews (like 2014 and newer).

Thanks for the info though!
