Decisions, Decisions - Finished econ degree from Penn State
I finished my degree (Econ) from Penn State in June and am in the process of looking for a job, but I am unsure what I really want. I want to do something in the realm of consulting - management, operations, or technology. The only thing I could envision myself doing in finance is possibly trading.
I have applied to consulting jobs but have been unsuccessful in landing anything. Since I am unable to find something I'm considering going to Penn State Abington and pursuing another degree in Information Sciences and Technology. It would be roughly ~40 credits and would not take me that long to complete (~ 1- 1 1/2 years including an IST internship).
I would be able to live at home and work a part time job at the same time. Since I'd be able to live at home, I would not have to take out much debt to do this since I am in-state.
Does this make sense or should I just keep looking for jobs?
Why not Masters in Econ at Upenn? Most Econ majors, from what I gather, often go on to do their masters straight out of undergrad..
..
My GPA is inhibiting me at a 3.0 ( which would be raised if I pursue this additional major), plus my standardized testing skills are lacking. I want to get a Masters but that is a little down the road for me at this point.
Aside from that, I would prefer to pursue a Masters in Finance or just an MBA.
So you have shitty grades and shitty test scores from a shitty school and you want to know how to get a job in trading/consulting? It's time to start s-ing some d.
Personally, I'd extend my undergrad stay and improve my GPA - It would be wise of you to do the same in my opinion.
