UBS Asia is solid. UBS US has suffered, and is possibly still suffering, from an exodus of top dealmakers to rival firms. This is a fact- losing multiple group heads (including a Vice-Chairman) over the span of months is not a sign of health in an investment bank. Anecdotally, it seems that UBS' reputation among junior bankers has also deteriorated significantly, to the point where it's generally considered among the least desirable of the bulge brackets as a place to work.

I understand that bankers have left, but bear in mind bankers leave other BBs all the time as well. There are articles everyday on this..

But I wont argue that UBS doesn't have the 'prestige' as other BBs. All I am trying to convey is that that doesn't mean it isn't a solid bank and a great place to work for people who are starting there. The comments such as yours scare people away when they constantly read it on WSO. I agree that it is certainly happening, but it is affecting a lot less than you think. From what I have seen (a lot of friends here), UBS NYC is still full of targeted students and pays interns/first-years the same as any other BB.
