Deloitte consulting -> LSE undergrad/LSE undergrad; which option is better for IB career?
Hi guys
I have 1 more year of A-levels (high school) in the UK and I was wondering whether it is worth applying for a gap year scheme at Deloitte consulting if I want to get an IB job after university?
Say I got an offer from LSE to read Philosophy and Economics as well as an offer to do a year long placement in consulting at Deloitte. I have two options: do the consulting placement and then go to LSE or go to LSE straight away. Which of these options is the best considering that I am not interested in consulting as a long-term career?
Would the placement give me a sufficient advantage when applying to IB jobs? Or would I be better off using this year to do a Masters after my undergrad or starting an IB job?
Would anything change if consulting at Deloitte became audit/tax at Deloitte?
Thanks
If I were you I would finish school so that you can be done with exams, homework, and stress of getting good grades. Try and get into IB after your master's.
Just my $0.02
If you go to LSE you will have 'sufficient advantage' anyway...don't need to do the consulting and don't need to do a masters
If I was you I would do the placement, come to LSE and apply for spring weeks, get converted to summer (and then FT) and life will be awesome. Miss the spring week bus (you shouldn't as the Deloitte experience will make you stand out vs the other candidates with little/no experience applying) and your pretty screwed imo (I'm assuming you do not speak an EU language).
