Deloitte S&O looking to move into ibanking
Hey all - looking for some advice.
Coming out of undergrad in '09, I didn't have a solid idea of what I wanted to do and consulting seemed offer a variety of learning opportunities. After graduation I started as a BA with Deloitte S&O thinking I'd give it a try. Since starting, I find that the work isn't as stimulating as I thought it would be and I'm realizing my interests are much more aligned to finance careers, specifically M&A/PE.
I'm currently considering trying to get into ibanking with the possible eventual goal of transitioning into PE. What I'm wondering is if I should try to make this jump now, early in my career, or try to do it post MBA. Also, I've seen many threads concerning moving from finance --> consulting but haven't seen many opposite. Is there a reason for this? How is the best way to go about it?
Thanks!
recommend MBA, but it doesn't hurt to apply now.
you could try and move into the transaction services dept. like FAS and then lateral out from there but MBA gives u a fresh start with less of a hassle. doubt mobility is easy.
or you could become a partner in some years > lateral easily
curious, what type of work r u doing exactly, why is not stimulating???
When I first saw this thread, I was sure PiperJaffrayChiang would comment. I think he actually works for Deloitte, which is fitting for a person as talentless as he is ("no, no, durrrrrrr, Deloitte is ranked #5 by Vault! durrrrrrrrr"). I wouldn't be surprised if he was also "Young and Hopeful".
^don't hate just cuz u ain't great
now help this man with his problem alright?
usually you'd seek advice with the people who are where you want to go, not the other way round
