Deutsche Bank London Reputation

Dear all,

I understand DB doesn't have a 'top' bulge bracket reputation in the US but I was wondering how everyone viewed the London office? Does anyone know what the culture is like?

What are the best desks in M&A? Relatively good dealflow?

Cheers!

they are doing fine deal wise. though in my opinion they are a notch below other BBs in europe (not below all of them but below the usual suspects).

friends from there had an extremely hard time switching to other banks after their SA stint.

I would have said that DB came after GS/MS/JPM/CS in europe. Am I being too generous?

most definitely. for IBD at least it's at the bottom amongst all BBs-as in the last one. they do get deals once in a while but nothing spectacular. on the markets side though, they're doing pretty well, but depends on the desk.

Have you even seen the latest league tables dude?

How is #5 in Europe and #6 the last one? BarCap, Citi and UBS seem to trail DB in most tables.

Apparantly there will be a protest soon which DB aren't too happy about with relation to;

Nothing to do with the quality and quantity of their in-office operations though! Just thought I'd add xD

Protest soon? Uhh, the guy was flashing money and got suspended, don't think that his DB counterparts will stand up and walk out b/c he got suspended. I inquired about this with a friend on that desk. he said the people were yelling "down with Deutsche".

DB is the best in Europe on the IB side, without question. They are also considered a great shop in the US.

A few left wing universities and some NHS workers are apparantly planning a protest of rage against DB. No real significance/objective considering the guy has already got suspended. He thought it was a protest for the unemployed when he flashed his 10er. He's French, trades FX and has a £650,000 crib in Kensington; he'll be fine.

I know this doesn't align with the previous posts, but I get the weekly Financial News in London, and they have a pretty cool IB revenue ranking on the second or third to last page, and every other week it does the revenue rankings in Europe for the last 12 months to date, and DB is KILLING it.

From what I remember, tops in Total Euro Revenue, tops in DCM, ECM, and 1 or 2 in M&A. I'm not sure if the momentum will continue, but for the moment they're top shelf.

your ranking is so completely off. DB is one of the best places in London... dont get all carried away by your US made-up BB rankings which, tbh, dont really mean shit.

As a matter of fact, have you guys even looked at M&A rankings for Europe??? ok, go look now...
