once people see him more than once he'll fade away
Anyone hear about this "gyroball" he claims to be able to throw?
Listen, I'm a HUGE Yankees fan, but the rest of you nerdy wanna be bankers, get your facts straight!
The Red Sox have 6 World Series wins... They just didn't win another one in 86 years after their last in 1918.
I believe that after a few months of the American diet he will start looking like that fat slug Hideki Irabu and pitch like him as well.
Legend in the making
i dont know what this is but well done
Baseball, buddy.
Thanks to the internet I can watch/listen to every game even on the Euro side of the pond.
During the summer, it's a great way to pass the nights in the office.
Will dominate the Yankees.
oh please...red sox fans are pathetic...every year all they can do is hope and dream that they beat the hated Yankees.
Meanwhile in NYC, 90% of Yankee fans don't even remember that there's a tiny town in MA named Boston.
Right. All that Red Sox - Yankee rivalry is so one-sided.
Uhh...yes it is. I grew up in NYC. And yea we're all aware that there is "supposed" to be a rivalry...but I had no idea anybody still gave a damn about it until I moved to Boston for school and I saw how bitter fans here are. I mean people wear "Jeter Sucks" T-shirts when the Sox play the Expo's for chrissakes.
You apparently mustn't be a very serious Yankees Fan, because I have worn my Red Sox jersey to multiple games in New York.
Let's just say I wasn't exactly greeted with the pleasantries of good sportsmanship.
My favorite incident was after a game in a bar when a 45 year old New Yorker tells his 7 year old son (yes, the kid is in the bar at 11 something on a school night) to come over and start kicking me, which the kid does.
What I am supposed to do? Beat up the 7 year old kid? Now a New Yorker probably would advocate that, but then again that's New York for you.
And no, I am not from Boston.
By the way, those "Jeter Sucks" shirts are really old. We are now onto "Jeter Swallows" and my personal favorite, "Jeter Sucks A-Rod" (pun intended)
i think i could have put up those numbers against the royals
didnt look like anything special last night
Were you watching the same game I was?
He threw 6-7 pitches at different speeds for strikes on both sides of the plate in any count.
That's special.
Dominating.
I'm sure there are people who are that intense about it, but from my personal experience it still seems like Red Sox fans are MUCH more serious about it.
You could be right. But it's definitely a two way street.
I think regardless of where you go, if you are an opposing fan, avoid sitting in the bleachers or you could be in rough time.
haha very true
The Yanks will have 30 World Series championships before the "Red Sucks" have 3. Case closed...
PS- The Beachers are for the real fans!
BOX SEATS SUCK! BOX SEATS SUCK!
Those who have been to the Stadium know what I'm talking about! Hahahaha
Go ALONE wearing a Yankees jersey to the Fenway bleachers and then get back to me.
Hell yeah, I love the bleachers but I've seen some bad things happen to people who would be that stupid.
I've had my Sawx jersey in the Yankee Stadium bleachers but I was with 5 people. I'm not that stupid.
If you go into the fenway bleachers wearing a yankees jersey I hope you have a platoon with you. Also I think the rivalry is better than ever now, any real yankees fan knows that.
yankees Suck, posada swallows
Go Sox
lol...as usual...said by a Red Sox fan. Just because you won 1 world series (in the same time the yanks won 27) does not make you a big dawg.
26 World Series...not 27
What makes me big is the way we won that World Series. You were up 3-0 and 3 outs away from the World Series and we stormed back and kicked your ass and then proceeded to kill the cards. You guys choked which isn't a surprise because you choke on cock daily.
SOX in 07
"26 World Series...not 27"
What's 1 Championship amongst Yankee fans? We can lend you "Red Sucks" a couple, we're running outta room to hang these things. We don't even bother to hang AL East pennants anymore, it's routine like doing taxes for us...
If you take the amount of World Series won by the 2nd, 3rd and 4th teams on the list, it adds to less than 26
Yankees fans need to leave the past and win a World Series this century.
Get ready the boys are coming home to Fenway today bitches
"Rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for the house in blackjack"-Bill Simmons
I am definitely a Sox fan, but I have to say we are turning into Yankees part 2 with the way we spend money.
If the Yankees are the Wynn, the Sox are Bellagio
agreed...it's getting harder and harder for red sox fans to keep calling the yankees "the evil empire."
Funny you brought that up, I totally forgot about the crazy amount of money the sox paid just to talk to Dice-K. I'd be willing to bet that if you counted that as payroll, the sox would have a higher payroll this year than the yankees.
I can't argue that we don’t spend the most amount of money next to the Yankees becasue we do. If we didn't there would be no competition in the rivalry. It would be like 1996 all over again. Screw the salary cap.
Living in the past? The Yanks have won more Championships in the last 10 years than any other team. Been to more World Series in that stretch more than any 3 teams. You can't be serious.
1996-Champs 1998-Champs 1999-Champs 2000-Champs 2001-World Series 2003-World Series 2005-ALCS AL East Pennant every single year. And if we've won the pennant, how many non-playoff years have we had in that stretch? You do the math.
Meanwhile the Sawx have backslid every year. 1st round and out in 05, no playoffs in 06, this year, dare I say, 4th in the AL East?
What happened once we started spending the money you guys did? Sox-1 Yankees-0
You forgot about 2004
Um, I think A_Bathing_Ape answered that already: "1st round and out in 05, no playoffs in 06, this year, dare I say, 4th in the AL East?"
The sox had one good year, and after that they've done worse and worse even with the amount of money their spending. The yankees on the other hand, might not have one multiple world series, but they have excelled year, after year, after year...I can't even remember the last time the yankees didn't win the AL East pennant.
Dice-Gay got shown up last night... sad.
he's good, but not worth the 100+ mil that it cost to get him...
Sort of agree, but if I'd rather them spend it on Dice-K, that Barry "I only throw 82 mph" Zito or some other chump.
He had a decent outing. However Hernandez had a lights out game. Lets wait to pass judgement until after he shutdowns the yankees lineup this weekend, which will happen.
You're joking right? You're talking about a guy that just lost to a team with 84 losses last season in the Mariners. His "Win" was against a team that lost 100 games last season. I can get an All Star team from the sand lot to be competitive with those two squads. When A-Rod puts a couple in the Monster Seats, we'll see how talkative you are.
Maybe you should get some pitchers from the sandlot ASAP. Old man Riveria needs some help, he is the new billy wagner
Do me a favor and look at his ERA for the last, ummmmm, I'd say decade or so.
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?playerId=3240
Two years ago he had an ERA of a touchdown at the end of April and finished the season with an ERA of 1.38. He does this every year. I want you to write his ERA down today, divide it by 3, and I bet it's lower than whatever number you come up with by September 30th. Mo is the last person I'd every worry about on the Yanks. Greatest closer in the history of the game. Even Red Sucks Nation can't argue that...
best closer of all time you got. Best closer right now.. Papelboner, can't argue that.
MO is old, i bet this is the year he crumbles
And you're basing this on what? His 1.80 ERA last season?
NO Im basing it off of the decreasing number of saves he has had over the past 3 years
2004-53 2005-43 2006-34
Who gives a shit about ERA when your saved game totals have decreased by about 8-9% per year.
Ever consider the fact that he hasn't had as many save opportunities? Considering he only had THREE blown saves all of last season, 4 in 2005, and 4 in 2004, gotta say I'm not too worried. Yanks offense has been pounding teams so Mo's job is pretty cushy right now. What that 1.80 ERA says is when he does have to work, it's LIGHTS OUT!
P.S.- Some nerve, complaining about Mo when "Get Diced K" just lost his second game in a row. He had a complete meltdown one inning. He's the one you should be worried about. Against the Blue Jays and he has a panic attack on the mound? Yankees in his next start? This is gonna get UGLY!!!!
P.P.S.- Papelbon had SIX, count em SIX blown saves last year and only 35 saves in total.
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?playerId=6373
Considering Foulke started last season as the closer an Pap still had more Blown Saves than Mo is a bad sign. Lidge pt 2? We chall see...
No one can argue with this. Mo is the GOAT and will be in his prime at least for another few years.
Dice K will fall into obscurity by June. I heard he just ordered a double bacon cheeseburger and liked it.
I can't wait for Andy to put the Sox to bed tonight... GOODNIGHT!
HAHAHA! How did MO do last night?
Actions speak louder than words, Like i said MO is a bum and over the hill. Blown Save number 2 of the week. I can't hear you Yankees fans bitchin now.
Exit Sandman
W: Snyder (1-0) L: Rivera (1-2) S: Okajima (1)
Yankee fans play for October. This amounts to a hill of beans. It's April 21st. Like I said, see me september 30th...
I'll man up and say "open mouth insert foot". Yanks got their asses handed to them. Sox played very well and came from behind 3 times like a good team should.
Mo really stunk up Lansdowne Street. No denying that. And Papplebon shut down the yanks in a major way. Jeter walked away from strike three and mouthed "wow"... He litterally dominated 3 of the best batters in baseball.
Whatever, I still say Dice-K is way overrated.
You got swept by the devil rays. Time to get Roger on the phone boys
I heard there is this awesome cuba kid from flushing. He is 14, maybe the Yanks should call him. You're that desperate
Rivera is a headcase- especially against the Sox. Go figure.
2007 American League East Standings
Boston 16 8 .667 ---
Toronto 12 12 .500 4
Baltimore 12 13 .480 4
Tampa Bay 11 14 .440 5 NY Yankees 9 14 .391 6 1/2
HAHAHA 2 games back on the devil rays. We will see the yankees in october... on the golf course
Is it just me, or have the Yankees been having some absolutely horrible luck lately? Hughes was about to finish off a no-hitter in his 2nd start ever, and he pulls a fscking hammy!
On the plus side, Papelbon blew a save. That brought a smile to my face.
I LOVE how red sox fans love to talk so much shit so early...you ever see yankee fans bragging about the yankees being in first place in April? The yankees have had horrible luck with injuries this month. Pretty much all their pitchers are falling apart and they're STILL competitive. Hell as I remember it, the red sox had to come from behind in a good portion of those games, and even when they won they didn't win by a landslide.
Do you guys even understand what that means??? That the yankees can have NO pitching and still barely lose? Do you honestly think things are going to stay the same for the rest of the season? Take a look at the score of today's game and you'll have an idea of what's going to go on once the pitching is at least somewhat healthy again.
I'm cautiously optimistic abuout the addition of Rocket..
Once the rotation is healthy: Pavano, Andy, Mussina, Wang AND Rocket???
Sounds too good to be true. I'm guessing there will be a revolving door to the infirmary all season, so that will be a best case scenario..
Greedy knows his shit. The Rocket is a 3-4 pitcher in the rotation at best. He hasn't pitched in the American League in a number of years either. Hughes looked good but he's out indefintely. Bottom line Boston has the best record in the AL and I was at the game in the Bronx two weekends ago and the Yankees fan base have lost their edge.
Read it and weep, $100 Million for a 5.45 ERA? Money well spent...
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=7906
P.S.- It's May 8th, were'nt the Yankees 10 games back at the break last year? You Red Sucks fans can't be serious...
