Dimensional Fund Advisors - experiences? General questions inside.

Hi guys. I'm a 1Y MBA and I recently got an offer to intern at dimensional in FAS. Wanted to see if anybody here has worked at DFA. Comments on glassdoor seem to hit both ends of the spectrum. I'm leaning towards accepting this offer, but want to hear feedback from you guys.

Some of the things I've heard is that the office is very political. Is this true? Is internship pay here negotiable?

If you've worked at DFA and left, how were your exit opportunities?

Thanks!

You should take what people say with a grain of salt since they're usually either really positive or negative if they voice their opinion, but I will tell you what I know from a former colleague of mine who used to work there before joining my former IB. He said it was extremely political in terms of promotions and that the work got to be fairly mundane after a while (what job doesn't lose some of its luster after a while?).

Definitely taking a lot of what I'm reading with a grain of salt. Trying to filter through it all and find whatever truths may exist. As far as the work getting mundane, I can imagine that. Like you said though, I can also imagine that happening just about everywhere.

Can you elaborate at all on the politics in terms of promotions? Do they only try to promote Booth grads or something?

I couldn't tell you what he said with respect to specifics around promotions, only that there were some internal political issues that hindered the ability to get promoted. I can't speak for the Booth grads comment. I honestly think his move away had more to do with his interests and desire to get into PE after IB than with the culture within the firm and work performed.
