Do brokers pay their analyst's salary?
I am an analyst on a Debt/Equity team for one of the big brokerages. I was always under the assumption that the company paid my salary and not my bosses, but someone mentioned something today that made me think otherwise. Can anyone shed some light for me on this?
No idea, but back in the day my friend worked at CBRE and his bosses paid him his bonus but the company had him on a salary
+1. In my experience as an analyst, it was salary paid for by the company and discretionary EOY bonus paid out from the head broker's commission on any given EOY deal. Only once you hit some seniority/prove yourself are you put partially or entirely on commission, but I'm sure that depends on the company/market.
