Does location affect case type?

So I got an out of the blue invitation to interview for an office in SEA, think JKT/KL/SGP with one of MBB. Will have 2 case study's, my question is (please forgive me if this is an obvious answer - I am not too familiar with consulting hiring processes) should I expect the location to have a bearing upon the type of cases I will face? Just trying to factor in as much as possible so I am not caught (too) unprepared....

No, the office you interview at will not affect the type of case you are given. However, certain offices are obviously located in industry hubs (NYC = FSI, Chicago = Industrials, SF = Tech/FSI, etc.) so it would be good to understand what kind of clients that office routinely works with. Good talking points during interview and to show that you can do your homework.

 

I don't agree with the above poster, especially when it comes to interviews with Partners. They are much more likely to either use cases from their area of focus or even do a case based on a challenge one of their clients is facing at the time. If you know the office is particularly strong in a certain industry and has many firm leaders stationed there, it would make sense to at least be knowledgeable about that industry.
