Does the World Economic Forum impact anybody's life?
The WEF is going on this year at Davos and news keeps trickling about how politicians of the world and business leaders emphasise on having an inclusive economic policy. Jobs for all, social benefits and welfare policies are phrases we hear time and again. I am not being anti-liberal nor am I trying to discredit the people who voice their opinion. But as a part of the financial services sector, do you really notice any change as a result of these organisations/ conferences. Does the event have any impact on policy making or is it just grandstanding?
total grandstanding. it's nice to see interviews with different CEOs in such a short time frame, but it's bogus.
side note: they have some of the richest guys in the world there, can they not get central heat? some of these interviews show as much breath as New England's offensive line in January. get it together Davos.
What if some Bond villain decided to smuggle a nuclear device into the ski resort months prior to the event, and decided to detonate it during WEF? Political elite.......poof! Tsk tsk, just saying...that would change everyone's life.
One can always dream....
you should take that idea to 4chan
TED Talk has a kid with Gary V but with more poise and pomp and circumstance.
It surely impacts the lives of the people who live in Davos...I'm sure any sort of business makes a ton of money off of everyone every year. Besides that, I'd assume that anytime high caliber people with more or less power get-togetehr there will be some impact.
"Let's host a forum with all the elites in the world in a ski resort up in the mountains, smack in the middle of winter! Yayy!" Retards, these elites. I fathom Trump declined to send anybody but Scaramucci there, simply because the whole idea is retarded. They could host it in Dubai, Cancun or Cebu, but hey, we're retarded!
There is apparently some elaborate story behind why it's taking place in Davos. I forgot what it was but I think it was based on some novel or something.
I thought it was primarily attended by people 1) as a prestige move (it's insanely expensive and invitation-only); 2) for business networking.
The people at Davos are the scum of the Earth. These unelected vermin think they are imbued with special insight to rule over the rest of humanity.
3) to bang models Not all of them - there are exceptions (Jamie D, Gates, etc)
That's a bit harsh, isn't it? You must hate the Bilderberger Conference...
The Davos conference is an invitation-only dick-sucking/networking conference where a bunch of limousine liberals get together to discuss global warming after flying into the conference on their private jets. They're the kind of people who would wax poetic about social justice while paying their Mexican maid minimum wage (or less if they could get away with it).
does anyone remember how a lot of these guys at Davos cried over Trump as a president in 2016 conference? and now those banks' CEOs be like uh ah Donald this Donald that deregulate this deregulate that
Didn't they say that food prices rise astronomically around the start of the conference? A hotdog is like $23 if I remember correctly.
that's just normal Davos prices ;)
Honestly all I saw was a bunch of people whining about populism while saying ''p-pls I know you ppl are angry but don't dismantle the system''.
For being a meeting of the alleged brightest minds, it was incredibly disappointing. Especially Ray Dalio.
But at least they aren't repeating ''everything is great, why are you angry?'' anymore.
That's the thing--being super rich does not necessarily equate to being one of society's greatest minds. These people are nothing special. There are 11 million U.S. millionaires (of which 40-50% are high net worth), of which virtually none (statistically) have ever attended Davos. A disproportionate percentage of HNW people simply built traditional businesses that don't get billion dollar valuations. They are equally as talented/intelligent as these Davos scum. And I'd guess that your average HNW American/European has no use for Davos or the people there.
Dude what is your deal? Jamie Dimon is "scum" now because he attended Davos? You need to chill. (Some) of these people have different views than you do, it doesn't make them "scum". This sort of attitude is exactly the issue we face in this country, people can't reason out different opinions without resorting to childish name calling and retreating to their respective ideological safe spaces.
Well, hookers in Davos get rich once a year.
Update: I "researched" a bit and the escort scene in Davos sucks, you would need to order from Chur. That will include covering one hour traveling expense (round trip). Rates start at 400 CHF an hour and some "elite" companions will not move unless you order at least 12 hours but other's will be happy to spend the day for 2500 EUR.
