Don't like current role - options

Not enjoying my current work - in a capital markets-esque position.

Don't want to spend 200k for b-school to become a consultant.

Don't want to become an accountant, which given the low bar to entry seems like the easiest change - just need an MS in Accounting and probably will crush it in audit relative to everyone I know in that space.

Why can't you network your way into a consulting role? Or any other role for that matter?

Why do you want to be a consultant? What don't you like about your current job? I need a lot more detail to offer anything likely to be helpful.

In a role that is closer to trader than banker, skills likely won't translate into a consulting role, at least not at a big 3 consulting firm.

Don't see longevity in the role I'm presently in and I don't want to end up being 31 applying to Columbia Teachers College to try and have a second career to make ends meet as a member of the lower middle-class.

The world doesn't end at MBB. Why not try and network your way in to Oliver Wyman or one of the big four firms? There are plenty of shops that have a financial services practice and there also a lot of in-house roles and there's always risk roles.

Try networking for a year and tee up your MBA application next cycle.

In order to achieve my end-game, it does seem to end at the big 3.
