Dress shirt with european fit

Hi guys,

I'm an european intern currently living in NYC and i've been struggling a lot finding dress shirt that fit properly.

I know that americans don't wear shirts the same way as europeans do (more ample, less fitted) so I was wondering if you know brands that are close to what we usually wear in Europe (France/England)

To date, I've tried Charles tyrwhitt (when chest is good, arms are too large), Suitsupply (almost the same, but a little bit better) and I was not convinced. I also went to Macy's and bought a Calvin klein ultra fit that is pretty good (still a little bit large though and kind of expensive..). In France, I used to wear Café Coton (for those who know the brand)

To have an idea, I'm 186cm (6' 1" I guess) for 84 kilos (185 pounds) and I'm quite muscular (go to the gym regularly)

Thanks guys !

Second the tailoring. I have a similar build - 6'3" and 180, and shirts almost never fit me well off the rack. I've had moderate success with Brooks bros slim/extra slim, and Nordstrom trim cut.

Thanks for your answers.

I don't know much about tailoring so how much (approximately) is it supposed to cost ? Because I'm not very fond of the idea of spending hundreds of dols for shirts when I'm an intern.

An do you use tailoring from the shop where you bought your shirts or do you go somewhere else ?

Cheers

"more ample" I like it

ctshirts.com extra slim fit

Buy one that fits your neck and have it brought in at the sides since you're having sleeve issues and can't just do darts. Should cost $20-$25/shirt. So like $70/shirt all-in.

Just buy a plain white one, a plain blue one, and some simple ones with checks, gingham, etc. You shouldn't need more than like 10 really. I got by with 5 during my first internship and just did laundry weekly. Nobody notices if you dress conservatively. Nor does anybody care. But looking good is important to your career, even if some people don't want that to be so, so do it right.

TM Lewin from the UK, order online, custom sleep length, neck length etc. and not too expensive. Great shirts.

The loudest one in the room is the weakest one in the room.
