Dynamic Between the Traders and Researchers Inside HFs
For anyone in here who works or has worked at a HF, would love your insight:
If we very crudely classify all people at HFs into only 2 groups: people who spend the majority of their day trading (and come from trading backgrounds) vs. people who spend the majority of their day doing research (and come from banking/ research backgrounds), what is the dynamic like between the research people and the traders inside HFs? (how the groups function as 1 cohesive team, who are the decision makers, value add of each group, pay split, # of employees in each group)
I realize there are a HUGE range of HF types and every HF is different, so I'm by no means looking for some definitive general answer. Just curious what people have seen from their individual experience.
