EARLY START DATE, SHOULD I TRY TO PUSH IT BACK?

I'm going to be a first year analyst at an MM bank this upcoming summer. I graduate late May and they want me to start the first week of June. From what I've heard, most banks bulge/MM are starting in July.

I definitely would like to have some time to visit my family and friends before I start working long hours. Should I try to push back my start date or would it reflect poorly on me. Also I do not know if I'm the only analyst in my analyst class. I'm sure your advice would be different depending if I'm the only one starting in June or other people are also starting in June.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Depends...is there a training program at the beginning of your stint? If so, you will definitely need to be there for it. If it is a smaller MM bank with an unstructured program, then be sure to ask for a few extra weeks.

Sorry, I didn't specify. There is NO formal training program. So you don't think it would reflect poorly on me if I asked for a few more weeks?

I would ask for a later start date and if they ask why just say it's your sisters wedding and you would rather not miss it, but if they can't wait so be it.

Don't see the harm in asking.
