Elliott Management / Elliott Associates
What's the word on this hedge fund run by Paul Singer? They seem almost as secretive as Rentech.
Anyone who has information to share - I would appreciate hearing it. Thanks...

I interviewed with them last year. PM if you have specific questions.
Hi may I know how to contact you? I have specific questions to Elliott. Thanks a lot!
He's a former lawyer (and it shows--his firm is litigious). I'm sure you've heard about their legal battles with the Republic of Congo and elsewhere. Pretty notorious for investing in distressed soveriegn debt. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news pid=20601109&sid=a3rjgGqFgOCw&refer=home
I have also been through all the rounds in the interview process...PM if you want to chat.
May I contact you in other ways? I can't use PM...
Hi Chimp, whats the best way to contact you? Dont hv enough pts to PM.
Stalking_Horse that is indeed how I first heard about the fund. Thanks for the replies - I sent you PMs.
Just wanted to bump an old thread and see if anyone has additional info on Elliott Management? Know they're pretty big in distressed debt but can anyone shed more light on the firm (ie. interview process, people, culture etc.), particularly for their HK office?
Would be great to hear any responses. Tks
Another bump - any sense of what they will ask for technical questions?
Heard it was a very "think on your feet" interview
Would anyone be able to PM with me re: this interview process ASAP please.
They are currently only recruiting analysts of Argentine nationality with impeccable credit history (like 760 FICO or higher).
They have FICO score thresholds - that's obnoxiously hilarious. Anyways, here are some more details on them: http://www.hedgetracker.com/fund/Elliott-Management-Corporation
I hope to God this isn't new news to you (if it is you're f*cked for the interview), but brush up on their play on Argentina's debt. They bought it up for pennies on the dollar and are now sueing the country to make it pay. I could explain the whole thing, but there's some decent articles that explain the strategy at:
Yeah, Elliott makes a bunch of these debt investments, and they're the only moves that seem to get them in the news. Looking at the numbers, though, it looks like the debt plays actually make up a pretty small portion of their AUM.
Bump - I also have an interview with Elliott and would appreciate any insights into the process. I don't have enough points to PM, but if someone could send me another way to contact them that would be great. Thanks!
Went through the ENTIRE process. Absolute nightmare:
Rounds 1-2: IQ Tests / Other Tests Round 3: In person test / interview (don't want to give away too many details) Round 4: In person case study (all materials provided) Round 5: Take home case study (distressed situation) Round 6: Meet with PM's / Partners
This whole process took 3-4 months plus and was absolutely horrendous. At the point I interviewed they hadn't hired anyone in 2 years or so. You get placed in the interview process through head hunters (Amity). Worth the interview process since the Fund is extremely big/important/awesome...just go in with low expectations.
Elliot varies in terms of where you are but the core biz is activist but the rest is more distressed / PE type bsuinesse. Their pay kinda blows
False
How is compensation structured for an analyst at Elliott, assuming 2 years of prior IB experience?
Sorry to bump this but does anyone have a good view on what the culture is like there? Comp, hours, general vibe...
Couldn't find a more recent thread on this matter. Does anyone have any other/new information regarding the fund?
interested in as well

Also curious. Think they're still Amity. Saw the horror post about their brutal process (3-4 months long) above. Anyone gone through this recently and can confirm? Elliott seems just as brutal and exclusive as you'd imagine...
