Engineer or CompSci?
Hello, I deciding on whether I should pursue an engineer degree or a CompSci Degree.
My goal is to pursue a high finance career but that could change in the next few years when I become more exposed to it. My school that I will attending is a non-target, and being in Canada might make it more an uphill battle.
My current choices are:
Joint Degree CompSci with Econ
Electrical Engineer
Software Engineer
Computer Engineer
I'm also interested in working in the Silicon Valley (Google, Apple), so which major would provide the best career trajectory?
I like to choose a science degree over an engineer degree in that it would allow me to take electives and giving me the chance to get a higher gpa. But ultimately, it will open up more time for me to network and do extracurricular.
what school is this, waterloo?
I feel that another big issue is that I am not from a target school and nowadays things in the financial realm are extremely competitive. Staying within the programming side of things might allow me more opportunities, but my real interest is finance. Waterloo and mcgill are my best options.
