Enterprise Risk?
So I know I have been posting a lot lately, but I couldn't find it with the search function. If someone can point me in the right direction if I missed something, please do. What is enterprise risk consulting and what are the exit ops?
Thanks.
in the same boat! recently accepted a "consultant" position under enterprise risk in the life sciences/healthcare line. I've tried to look around but wasn't able to find any really answer!
same is the case with me! I am a masters CS student and I received an offer in AERS as 'Consultant' in Technology Risk domain. I am really interested in the 'Technology Consulting' career. Will this be a good option for me to join or shall I look for other opportunities involving some software development. Can somebody shed some light on this? Thanks in advance!
enterprise risk can, as with most things in consulting, mean a lot of different things. I have been working in enterprise risk management for about 2 years and my job is quite vastly different from pretty much everybody else in my practice.
basically, your job is to make sure people dont fuck up. so it takes a bit of a cynicall personality to be successful in this field. In short, i think it is one of the best places to learn business. you get to explore all of the shittiest parts of businesses and are given accolades for calling them out. conversely, everyone hates you.
enterprise risk encompasses everything from disaster recovery to operational risk to PR risk, etc etc. basically anything that can go wrong deservedly will fall under enterprise risk. as a consultant, you will generally be called into devise mitigation and recovery strategies.
as part of this job you may be redesigning processes, developing controls and governance processes, or something as mundane as making sure your client is compliant with regulations. if you are really specialized, you might be designing or validating risk models or making data driven risk decisions.
for me, my exit op is an MBA and going into more strategy space. i work in data driven decisioning and controls so I can say things like i know how to relate information from varied sources, judge their quality, and make informed decisions rather than by gut.
hope that helps.
