Entry-Level Analyst Advice
Seeking some advice on where to turn in the coming months. I am currently a senior at a top 15 business school (not Ivy or core target) double majoring in corporate finance and Economics. My GPA is below the industry average at a cumulative 3.3, but have a specialization GPA of a 3.8. My background is solid, nearly two years of internship experience: PWM, Analyst at an Enterprise Hardware Startup, Financial Analyst role at UBS for more than a year working on deal sourcing for an acquisitions group. In addition, I've competed in three case competitions, two of which were international where I was selected by our business school to represent our university. Played Division 1 athletics for a year before transferring to my current university. I've held leadership positions and been involved with various organizations, etc, etc. You guys get the point...
In October I was able to network my way into two MM PE firms where I then went through 8+ rounds lasting until the first week of February. Good news is I made it to the final round of both firms, bad news is I lost the job in both instances to seasoned IB professionals...
I undoubtedly should've braced for the worst case scenario, but I didn't. Recruitment season is now over and I am not sure what the best course of action is to take. I have drawn on lists of MM/boutique IBs but have had no luck with finding any who are currently hiring. I was wondering if there was anyone who's had a similar scenario, and what you did to either network or just simply find opportunities. All advice and insight are very much appreciated.
