EPL Fantasy Team
Hey Everyone,
So as the first week of opening Premier League matches wraps up, I just wanted to see if anyone else on WSO has a fantasy league team? This is my first year playing and am pretty happy/psyched with my teams performance for the first week. Totalled 58 points, even with a few players performing dismally. What are your scores for those who are playing? Line ups?
-Regards
Mignolet, Koscielny, Luiz, Jagielka, Wilshere, Coutinho, Snodgrass, Schurrle, Aguerro, Benteke, Bony
EDIT: Nobody plays fantasy league?!
On 81 points at the moment, and still in the bottom half of my league. Won't post my line-up out of paranoia.
I think you need to shift quite a few players... Koscielny / Schurrle as a priority, maybe Luiz because they have nothing in week 3, and Snodgrass is injured. Coutinho / Aguero / Bony will be great holds this season (as long as Aguero stays healthy).
I think Barkley is going to be crucial to line-ups this season. Keen to see what happens with the Spurs situation - Soldado may bag a lot of goals if he has quality midfield to support him. Lamela is also a proven goalscorer if he does get signed (although I think he will probably be very expensive).
Yeah, definitely regret some of my decisions. Chose some players on how good I think they are and that I like personally, which was silly. Also hard to choose starting line ups for new managers. Koscielny is gone (Arsenal will always concede some goals and defense as a whole is poor), and thought Schurrle would be played more since he was so highly touted. Up to 68 pts after today, but it is only week one. Who knows what it will look like at mid season.
Barkley was someone I completely overlooked. Regardless of how some players did first weekend, its the long run that counts, but I may make a move for Barkley. Snodgrass will do well once he's fit I think and my friend has Soldado who I think will start a lot and do well this season.
And come on now mate! I'm not going to steal your team, esp now since season has started and transfers are limited. I just traded Kagawa for Schurrle and feel doubly idiotic. Hopefully he'll get some time vs Chelsea this weekend though. If Benteke keeps it up, he'll also be a great buy. My league is small, so I'm currently in 3rd, but won't put much stock in my position just yet.
Regarding the paranoia - that's to do with preserving anonymity on here. I'd be happy for people to know / steal my team otherwise - classic pump and dump.
Snodgrass will do well - he is cheap, and will have plenty of assists via van Wolfswinkel and Elmander. Soldado will start every game - unless you're City, you kind of have to play the guy you spent £26m on.
Kagawa is risky to me... who knows how much game time he will get / what his role will be under Moyes. Could be a differentiator though. Villa are actually looking very decent, Benteke could have a monster season.
More to do with colleagues who are on both FPL and WSO putting it together. I captained Hazard last week, the move didn't work out, but I have no regrets. It was the most rational move available. Will probably captain RVP for most of the season.
Kagawa may still get game time. Apparently wasn't fully fit last weekend. And save your wildcard - you never know when 3 or 4 players in your team get injured in one weekend. I see it like the DRS in cricket... you don't get very many of them, and you should really use it to save yourself from a disaster situation, not to take a punt.
Also, 2nd half of the season is when rescheduling happens due to tournaments, and you want to be able to take advantage of double gameweeks.
Tough matches today... scored pretty badly. Also, is there really no one else on FPL??
Was wondering the same, thought there must be at least some others on here that follow it and play. And yeah, can't believe it. 25pts or something like that! Fortunately still have Aguero, Bony, Williams (Swansea) and Kagawa to get me some points tomorrow and Monday. Kinda figured that the points would smooth out a little after the first week, but 25 points is shit.
Gunners fan and love Jackie, but 2 weeks in a row of shit performances and yellow cards doesn't make a very good case for himself. Midfield is struggling right now, think they've earned me a total of like 20 points this year so far. Jagielka was my top scorer from today. Hope Aguero tears Cardiff a new one tomorrow.
I'll probably start bringing in a bunch of Swansea players after week 5 when they get a great run of games, Bony is gonna score a lot of goals, and I like the look of their team. Definitely bringing in Michu. I like Aguero, but just really scared of City's rotation - Negredo and Jovetic surely have to play at SOME point? Currently on 35pts for the week, but not a lot of other players left to play besides RVP...
Struggling with my midfield too - need to figure out who is going to be that Michu / Silva / Mata type player who gets you like 8 or 9 points every week. Can't really risk picking any City or Chelsea players until a few more matches.
I've been really apprehensive about playing Michu because I'm not sure he'll be consistent. He came from Spain last year for nearly nothing and then has a superb season, but I get kind of suspicious of whether or not he can do it again. And yeah, City and Chelsea have good players but such deep squads that it's hard to choose a consistent player. I will continue to be a little pessemistic about Swansea as a whole, since from what I've seen it's pretty hard for smaller clubs like them to sustain mid/upper table seasons after recently being promoted.
Honestly have no idea what to do this week. Want to dump Luiz, Koscielny, Kagawa, maybe Wilshere but am afraid that once I trade them, they'll be earning points. Might try to pick up Vertonghen and Ivanovich in defense and Barkley/Silva in mid (maybe Yaya if I have the money).
Idk though. Pre Chelsea/ManU game I have 37 pts this week. Not sure WHY Bony is not playing, but think he'll establish himself this year. Also not sure why Wilshere isn't playing except that perhaps Wenger doesn't want him reinjuring himself again.
