Baird Equity Research Phone Interview
Hey Everyone,
I have a phone interview coming up with Robert W. Baird. The position I applied for is Equity Research Analyst.
I come from a non-target school, and I am not sure what type of questions I should be expecting to field. I was wondering if anyone had any advice? I will be speaking with an associate. What type of technical/ behavioral questions should I expect.
I would really appreciate any advice!
There are so many threads on this here, but one thing that I can tell you from having interviewed at Baird before is that you really need to hit the "Why Baird?" question out of the park. I would highly recommend watching the YouTube videos on the following Baird career page.

Baird ER 2nd Rounds (Originally Posted: 10/09/2009)
Simple question:
What should I expect during the 2nd round of full-time recruitment for Baird ER?
An alumni mentioned an analytical exam as well as a fit interview.
Any other tips or insight?
Any information on salaries?
I am a undergraduate student majoring in finance and accounting.
did you get this through OCR?
Is this for Chicago or Milwaukee? I've heard of some stuff like an analytical exam, etc. SAT/ACT scores are also a factor, but if you made it through first round you should be okay in that arena.
Not sure what your first round was like or what kind of contacts you have at the firm, but expect to get grilled on your stock pitch. From my experience, first rounds are generally much more fit and just focused on your interest in the markets, not necessarily how well you can research a company.
What's OCR? On campus recruiting? Yes, I got my first round through my school's career services office.
I was told that there are more openings for Milwaukee and they have a preference for individuals who want to go to Milwaukee because its their research headquarters.
The analytical exam wasn't too bad and I wasn't grilled to hard about my stock pitch.
I should hear word back from them next week.
I have a 1st round ER interview coming up Tuesday. Anything in particular I should keep in mind?
Thanks!
:-)
During my first round interview, I was told they wanted people with mental fire power. So I was asked to answer a timed math question.
I also pitched him HIS stock- it was a little interesting since he's the top ranked analyst for his sector.
Other than that, it was pretty predictable.
Thanks!
Hopefully, it'll go well.
