Equity research final round in 3 days - How do I learn excel/modelling?
Hi guys, got a final round in 3 days and I really need to learn everything. Don't currently work in finance so studying up on accounting, statements, formulas.
Question is how do I learn the excel and financial modelling part in just 3 days? Any courses or tips? Where do I even start?
Hi! How was your interview? Did you managed to find a course or materials for financial modelling?

Hi guys,
I had an interview at a boutique equity research shop. The interview went well but they gave me a week to build a model on a company along with a one page write-up.
Can anyone review my model? I'm having a hard time getting the CF to match up to the change in cash in the balance sheet in my forecast period.
Thanks!!
How are you modeling the balance sheet? Are you making all of the adjustments to the income statement necessary to get the cash flow?
Not sure what income statements adjustments I should be making. My CF is linked to all the changes in the BS YoY + capex + d&a + net income
Urgent Interview: Help needed for Tech ER Model (Originally Posted: 09/27/2013)
Have an interview with a Tech Equity Research group on tuesday that will involve a modeling test. Does any one have an ER model for a tech company (yahoo, google, facebook, Amazon, ebay, etc.) that I can practice with over the weekend?
I did search the forum for similar posts, but examples/templates were all share offline via a PM.
Would really appreciate any help that you can offer. Thanks
Similar situation. Also interested.
guys - any help much appreciated.
I do not have a model that I can share.
However, models will be structured essentially the same way the company reports their financials. Tech will have some common charges (ie stock-based compensation, amortization of intangibles, restructuring, etc). Also, goog street convention for rev is adjusted - rev plus/or minus Motorola rev (can't remember)- tac (traffic acquisition costs).
Rev will grow based on industry future, operating expenses should remain roughly the same, and bottom line will be dependent on operating leverage and maybe some unforeseeable events. Hope this helps
Tks pktkid10 - appreciate the insights.
Equity Research Interview: Oil Modeling Help (Originally Posted: 02/20/2018)
Hi guys. I'm currently interviewing for an equity research role and they sent me an excel/modeling test. They basically gave me a bunch of data on well performance and want me to create some output (yea they were kind of vague). The overarching goal is to find the best operator. Note: best operator is different from best rock. So I can't just do 3-mo cumes or some simple variant of that. Any insights or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.
