ER Resume Review
With my internship getting close to an end (I have 2ish weeks left?) I thought I'd spend some time updating my resume. Literally nothing going on today at the office so I spent the morning fixing it up and ran it by my Sr. Analyst to get his ok. There's not really gonna be anything new to add between now and the end I don't think. We have earnings next week but I don't think listening in on earnings qualifies as a bullet point, and the work I'll do in the models is probably redundant enough for what I already have written.
Feel free to rip it apart. The goal for next summer is ER @ an upper range MM (Blair, Stifel, RJ) or a BB Sophomore program? Think I have a shot at that based off my resume? GPA is not listed since sub 3.0.
Thanks a ton.

Ridiculously strong freshman internship, but shitty GPA spence.
(your name is in the title of the resume lol)
click on the link and look at the top, it changes from WSO resume to your name's resume
That's really weird its not changing for me or anything. Idrc though, there are a couple things on my resume that someone could hunt me down with if they tried
Looks good. Really neat. Nitpicky - if you're working in ER, you're actually a Summer Associate. Not analyst.
Analyst is higher than Associate in ER.
Really? I know that Associate is the entry research position and the rest of the ER hierarchy, but I just assumed "Summer Analyst" was across the board for all UG positions.
Although Waymon3x6 is correct, I suggest just keeping Summer Analyst on there.
Great resume. Font is kind of small -- maybe try increasing size?
This font does not look better than Times.

How did you land such a nice internship with a sub 3.0 at a non-target? I would venture to say that many kids at your schools business program doesn't even know what ER is so kudos to you. Start working your ass off in school so you can have a major GPA that won't be bogged down by a rough freshman year. In the long run people won't care about your freshman GPA if you show improvement and continue having stellar work experiences
The reason why the experience is so good is because the Sr. Analyst I was placed with doesn't have any associates working under him, so a lot of associate level stuff was delegated to myself and the other intern under him. I also told him up front when I started that I wanted to learn valuations and modeling, and he threw me some bones and took the time to find me projects he had to do where I could be directly involved in what was going on.
I hear what you're saying about the GPA, and that's been my plan. But with recruiting for next summer, resumes will start going out before the end of 1st semester so my GPA really won't be improved until at least after that. I'm just worried about getting auto dinged everywhere without them taking a look at my experience. I've already started up the networking process for some of the places I listed above.
If you are worried about the auto-ding (and some HR departments will do it using their software) then networking is key. As people have stated here before if you want to land a job in finance ESPECIALLY from a non-target, and I know from experience because I came from a non-target, then network/experience stand far above GPA. If you can connect with alumni from your school/fraternity/anything else you can think of and get someone on the inside with real pull to go to bat for you (shouldn't be impossible if you know what you are talking about which you do) then that usually trumps any HR protocol.
In terms of landing a full time offer down the road you are far ahead of the competition. Already having experience and your eyes set on the prize outweighs your GPA/non-target background. You are simply way ahead of the game, I doubt many underclassman are remotely serious about networking at your school. That being said get that GPA up. You want your major GPA to be a 3.5+ and if you have a sub 3.0 form a non-target then getting a great starting gig becomes much more difficult. Get creative with the job search as well by talking to professors, I wish I knew there were other ways to land internships besides applying online (waste of time) or through the career services center at the school when I was your age
Thanks dude, great advice.
Be more detailed with the course descriptions. As an example, at my school the courses where given names such as "Applied Microeconomics" or "Intermediate Microeconomics."
You packed a lot of information onto a one page resume. What is the font size?
