Evaluating Offers: Management Consulting Internship vs. Corporate / Internal Strategy Internship
Hey all -- need some help evaluating offers & would love your input
Offer 1: Management Consulting @ Booz Allen
Pros: desirable location, huge intern class, full-time conversion stats are good / offers given at end of summer, consulting experience, brand
Cons: not doing a ton of work with the FT employees / clients, "intern project" type of summer project, industry less desirable to me than offer 2
Offer 2: Strategy Internship @ Health Food Company**
Pros: really passionate about this industry, can see myself wanting to work in this industry down the road, summer intern work seems really interesting to me, working with some really smart people (ex MBB, lots of exposure to VPs, etc.). Long term I'd love to create my own product/company within this space.
Cons: company brand name isn't that strong (brands that fall under it are well-known in this niche though), far less desirable location, full-time conversion not likely (don't often offer FT after internship b/c it's a small dept.), I'd be the only intern in the dept. and not a huge intern class throughout the company, less exit opps for FT recruiting (?)
Salary is higher for Offer 1 but doesn't include housing, whereas I could live at home for Offer 2 and net about the same (not crazy about living at home though).
TL;DR Would you go for work you're passionate about in an industry you love but in a less desirable location with a small chance for FT conversion (for the experience) or go for the reputable intern program in a great location with work you still find interesting but a little less so?
