Does anyone know any useful external exams an undergrad/junior analyst could take to help in IBD/M&A (make you look more competitive).
I've heard of the CFA but apparently it's not useful for IBD? I'm looking for something self taught - don't mind paying to sit for it.
Thanks and happy holidays!

Your best bet is to invest in
Your best bet is to invest in the breakingintowallstreet.com excel/financial modeling courses. I purchased both during the summer of my junior year, worked through them, and finished before I went through recruiting. Everything I learned in the courses were very helpful for my interviews and helped land my FT offer. I thought about the CFA but realized it is too time intensive and doesn't make sense if you want to get into banking.
Also, buy this book and read it. Extremely helpful

Thanks for the advice. I will
Thanks for the advice. I will certainly invest into the above if it will help. My main concern is that if they see jan-oct 2012 (assuming i don't get a summer internship either) 'breaking into wall street self-taught program' vs a professional qualification like the CFA will i look silly?
Also - I have that book you lined above and have been through it already.... lol... usually my technicals are fine unless they ask something completely bizarre but then i show that i can work through it. Seriously - when i leave interviews i think i've done well - then when i get the rejection its just confusing! haha
