Excel assessment test...?!
Hey everyone,
I have a supderday coming up with one of the big 4 for transactions. HR told me that there will be an excel assessment test. Anybody know what it is? Has anyone taken one before? What should I expect? It would be really helpful if you guys could shed some light.
Thanks
just some basic macro scripting, collections, hash tables etc. you'll be fine.
Yeah you'll definitely be asked about sorting, like the algorithmic nuances between tree sort, merge sort, and bubble sort, and how they're applied when you click the "sort" button in Excel.
You should also be strong to quite-strong with objects (Meet the Parents, anyone?), because you'll use those a lot too.

Next week I have an interview at McLagan consulting. They said they are going to give me a excel assessment. What should I expect on this test?
V-look up, H-look up, Pivot table? anything else?
thanks
Personally like Index(Match) better than either of v look or h look up, i would learn that. Sumifs, pivot tables, paste specials, etc are all probably fair game. Also learn to format quickly, probably a part of the test.
And dont use the mouse

I have an interview coming up soon and in the e-mail I received I was told that I may be given an excel assessment test....In the job listing "intermediate to advanced" excel skills are expected.
My first question is: How common are excel assessments for analyst hires?
2nd: If I am somewhat proficient in lookups, if statements, and pivot tables, but have no experience in macros...should I be nervous about this test in the chance that I do end up being asked to take one?
Did you state a level of proficiency with excel on your resume?
no..i just have it listed under skills.
