Exit Opps with odd background (MBA or Not?)
I work for a healthcare consulting company (not a top tier, very implementation focused, lower tier firm...) and I have a MBA/Job Change dilemma.
I have not taken a traditional route to consulting. I attended a state university, entered an internship, then jumped to this career without finishing my degree (My current company knows I do not have a degree, but almost everyone else does). After 5 years, I finished my degree by completing my last outstanding course, but now I have a problem. I have a job held almost exclusively by college graduates with 4-5 years experience, but my bachelors degree is less than a year old.
1) I understand I couldn't get into most MBAs with this scenario - is a mid-tier school willing to accept me? If so, should I use this as a fresh start?
2) Exit opportunities - implementation based work isn't ideal for consulting, but applying for new jobs with 5 years of experience but a brand new bachelors degree isn't ideal. What companies would consider this?
