Exit ops after trading

What are the exit ops for a trader? What's the typical career path, I know of quite a few who have stayed with their respective bank from analyst-MD level. Is this usual? What age do traders tend to 'retire' or move on?

Assuming you leave the investment bank then HF, asset managers, PE, Prop firm, inter dealer broker, independent traders.

Seems to be an even mix of all over.
