Does anyone have any insight on Ernst & Young's Financial Services Office in NYC? Right now I'm approaching 2 years at a BB and am in talks with headhunters on interviewing for this area of E&Y. I'm looking to learn more about the interview process, deal flow, culture, and career trajectory within this division.

What area of EY?
It's the Advisory part of E&Y which is separated from Audit and Tax. Within that, I would presume Banking & Capital Markets under the FSO umbrella.
It is not necessarily advisory. They have all functions of EY under the FSO including advisory as well as assurance and tax.

TAS right? They have a lot of cool engagements and UBS is one of the bigger clients. Mind me asking why the switch from BB?
Reason for the switch is that I'm doing Back Office/Middle Office projects at the BB (not Front Office work) and this seems like the right exit opportunity given what I'm doing now. My view is that there is a much bigger sense of ownership and career trajectory at E&Y vs. this BB.

For jobs there are several groups within BAP that do different things. Some of these roles include performance improvement (management consulting), risk, and operations consulting for financial services. Within the BAP program you'll have the opportunity to try all the different groups or stick to one. After a few years you align yourself to one of these service lines where you will continue to grow your career.
thanks, is there any difference in the three roles offerings depending on offices?
The New York office has opportunities in all of the roles, I'm not sure about the others. But FSO is a national practice, not a regional one, so you can easily be placed on a project in Chicago even if you're in New York, or vice versa.

The BAP at EY is a rotational program where you rotate within 3 different sectors of our financial services advisory line (PI, FSRM, and P&C) within 3 different industries. The three industries are Insurance, Banking & Capital Markets, and Asset & Wealth Management. Ideally, they want you to align to a certain industry within 2-3 yrs. Rotations vary from projects, sometimes you could be on a project for just a couple of weeks and sometimes it could be a year +. As far as the regional/national discussion-FSO is considered a national practice and not all EY offices house FSO. It is regional in a sense that as a staff 1 or 2 they try to put you on engagements within your office's region, however, you could easily find yourself flying around the country. I would say depending on your office, you're more likely to be exposed to different areas (NYC-Banking, structured finance, etc.) Can't really speak on exit ops
Thats some solid information, would you be able to speak on how they are recognized in the financial services consulting world?
P&C has moved out of BAP now by the way I believe. EY is ranked #3 in the vault rankings in financial services consulting. It is probably their strongest industry group and they have decent placement in top business schools.
I'm not sure how it is looked upon by MBB.

This will be my first post so be gentle with me. Does anyone have any insights into EY FSO performance improvement in particular the wealth management or Asset Management.
I'm not coming from a traditional background. I went to a non target school and have spent the last 8 years in the retail brokerage world. Starting off as a Financial Advisor and as a Portfolio Specialist for the last almost 5 years. I haven't been in consulting before but I do come from financial services so I think I at least offer some industry experience and insights that would be at least interesting to EY.
Anyone have any insights they can share?
