Factset Research Systems: Is it possible to transition from sales here to another sales role within a Bulge Bracket?
Furthermore, is there any upside to going from sales at Factset to an institutional sales type role at something like Goldman Sachs? I'm assuming that Factset sales prepare you more for a tech-oriented sales role at places like Google or Microsoft. But since much of their work involves interfacing w/ buy-siders, I was wondering how relevant the experience might be.
Secondly, does anyone have any idea about the compensation? Obviously much of it will be through commission; but on average do sales guys here have a better work-life balance and make good money (i.e. 300-600k) on average? The glassdoor website has pretty scanty and outdated information--as a sales manager, most make around 170-230, but there's high variance and the numbers in similar roles go as high as 330 and even 550k. After some digging around, I found that a guy who works there just bought a nearly $1 mil house--and he's in his early 30's.
A buddy of mine has an interview for an internship there. He's a year older than me. I'm thinking of following him. But before I get myself in deep, I was hoping to look for any advice on this role--culture, pay, hours, exit opps, upward mobility, etc.
Thanks so much people!
