Falling Short with FT IB as a Senior ...
Friends,
I have been falling short with my FT IB recruiting efforts, although I have yet to hear back from a few banks. As a contingency plan, although mind you I'm a senior graduating this upcoming May, could I interview and snag an IB internship or is this a faux pas?
Any input and/or suggestions?
Best
curious about this as well
Then start looking elsewhere.
No you couldn't. If you graduate in December you could.
Look at boutiques. That's what I did. I failed at FT recruiting, started at a "no-name" boutique, and then lateraled after a year of working there.
This happened to me (for multiple years). Some immediate options that come to mind :
1) Push back grad date 2) Start interviewing for other roles as well in addition to IB
I ended up doing option #1 a few times. Of course, I did end up without a job at graduation as I did not really heed option number #2 until it was too late. If IB is your goal, flexibility in how you approach is key. I would recommend looking for other roles while continuing to keep an eye on IB through networking and applying for roles you come across. I basically did this after graduation and was fortunate to land in solid IB shop without having to do B-School.
Good Luck cause I know recruiting is cycle I wish I could have avoided each time in school (given the physical and emotional stress it can cause)....
