SECfinance:
Buy American. Buy Allen Edmonds.
If I'm going to buy American, I prefer Alden. AE is owned by a private equity firm and their quality has steadily declined over the years. I bought a pair of Norwich loafers off of Amazon a couple weeks ago and the leather on the toe of one of the shoes was uneven -- there was pretty much a big bump in the leather. I promptly returned them.

As per the OP's question, you really can't go wrong with either. I prefer Ferragamo myself, but that's just personal preference.

You don't need either. The man makes the shoe not the shoe makes the man.

Buy these:

You can get ferrys at a similar price point during a good sale. Sure you can look good on a budget but don't avoid the flashy name brands just because of some "the man makes the shoes" shpeel.
