Searching for opportunities in Finance in the SF Bay Area
Hi!
This might sound like I am not even trying and/or entitled but I guess trying every venue wouldn't hurt.
I am currently working as a consultant for a software company near SF Bay Area, but I feel like this is a dead end job. I don't make that much money and just accepted this position to be able to pay my bills and my student loans.I am currently trying to break into Finance (strong preference for IB, but willing to work in other related fields to gain experience and network with bankers).
A little bit about my background: non-target, 3.5 GPA in Math with a minor in Business, some ECs, no internship. Currently working as a consultant for a software company.
I have been proactively contacting people through cold-calling and cold-emailing, through LinkedIn and also through internet job boards and companies websites. I have no alumni in this area, I attended school in east coast and I am actually new to the area, moved here with my family. So far I have had 3 informational (coffee) interviews and some emails, but so far no bite.
I would really appreciate if anyone located in the Bay Area to point or direct me to any opportunities that you guys know. It doesn't necessarily need to be in IB. If you guys have any leads just post below or PM me or tell me to PM you.
Thanks in advance

@"goldilocks17" Yeah I am trying to apply and get anything that is related to finance really (not a bank teller...).
.
@"goldilocks17" Ultimately I want to break into IB, and then perhaps PE or HF, after my analyst stint. I am emailing and doing my best to turn them into informational interviews but so far I have had really limited success, perhaps because my I have 0 alumni in the bay area, and I am new to this area, no friends in my network that live here really.
.
Make that coffee [interviews] count ! then follow up. Then repeat.

Is it any easier to land a job in San Francisco than in New York? I've targeted some BB and hedge funds but I'd like to get to know everyones take on the differences (culture within the industry and landing a job) between the coasts.
