What kind of job experience can break into financial analyst eventually.
Recently I am looking for summer internship but I have no idea what kind of job can lead to financial job eventually. I know even entry level financial analyst also need 2 years experience so that I want to start from getting related job experience. Does anyone know which job position doesn't require related experience but be helpful on applying financial analyst in the future? Thank you!

Tips on becoming a financial analyst (Originally Posted: 02/26/2018)
I'm an undergraduate (graduating in May) with a business degree, plenty of accounts receivable and collections experience, but I also want to go into financial analysis. Currently studying for GMAT (taking the test in June). My university doesn't offer finance and accounting degrees. I'm reviewing "Financial Analysis with Microsoft Excel." Any advice you can recommend is much appreciated. Thanks so much.
The Excel is an invaluable source of financial data analysis. Every day, uncountable amount of financial data is analyzed by financial experts. If you are in the finance industry, Microsoft Excel will be your best analytical tool till the end of your career. You will be dealing with a lot of finance Excel spreadsheets from the first day of your career.
Qualifications for Financial Analyst roles at F500s? (Originally Posted: 05/21/2015)
Hey everyone,
Got a chance to look at some openings for Financial Analyst positions at F500 healthcare companies since I am hoping to transition into a financial analyst role in healthcare/pharma from my Internal Audit gig at a F500 financial services company eventually.
I was really surprised to see that a lot of these Financial Analyst openings at these companies (especially at McKesson) have qualifications like "5+ years in accounting/finance experience" and "MBA Preferred". Keep in mind these aren't openings for Senior Financial Analysts (which would make more sense to have those qualifications), but just normal Financial Analyst openings. Is this supposed to be common for these roles or is this only common for healthcare industry? Or am I just totally misinterpreting the "Financial Analyst" job opening as a more senior position even though it just states the role as plain "Financial Analyst"?
.
The preferred qualifications are often times a joke. I never worry about they years that they say are ideal as long as I had experience to qualify me to do the job.
How long have you been at your current company? After ~2 years you should be looking at SFA roles. General rule of thumb: Analyst: 0-2 years experience SFA: 2-4 Manager 5+
Note the quality of the experience matters a lot, but if you're good and have good experience that's usually about right. If you're average or your experience isn't too relevant you may not be able to move that quickly.
Personally I did 1 year at Big 4 and 1.5 in consulting and then went to an SFA role at a F500 healthcare/pharma company.
Your timeline realistically is very short. Unless you are in a development program (or came from consulting/banking), you are not making senior in 2 years. Or rather the chances are very slim.
To the OP, every company is different. Some promote quickly, others do not. If you are at the 5 year mark, I would start looking at senior roles.
Looked at openings at J&J and McKesson recently. I'm just as surprised as OP about these qualifications for a level I Financial Analyst role. Would love to hear some feedback on the reasoning behind these as well!

The term "Financial Analyst" means absolutely nothing. You need to be more specific.
None of those schools are target schools, nor are any really semi-targets
Wrong forum OP.
You should be posting on College Confidential
OP, you seem a bit clueless from the same question you asked on reddit. I suggest reading around..

I love it when people find out what they want to do 18 years AFTER they start school.
