I am a Senior undergrad, have a poor GPA and had a 1240 on SATs. Not sure if I should disclose that, but do have a decent amount of experience. Havent taken GMAT. Am looking for any internship/entry level job as a financial analyst. My personal investing track record so far is very good.. it is the strong point in my resume.

Please let me know if you have any advice

1) take off objective 2)
by bigmonkey311) take off objective
2) don't describe yourself as 'talent' in your resume (sounds extremely cocky esp. considering the rest of your resume)
3) GPA????????? that's a big dinger.
4) you might want to reconsider the wording under "Intuitive understanding of valuation techinques". you probably want to say disc. cash flow ANALYSIS , comparable companies analysis... and don't put book value.
i don't knwo exactly what kind of financial analyst position you are looking for, but i would advise you to not be too optimistic if it is in IBD
Agree with everything
by Anthony .Agree with everything mentioned above. I am not a fan of the format, but I suppose it is ok. Mergers and Inquisitions has a free template, I would use that. Beef up the work descriptions. You tell me what someone does in those jobs, you don't tell me what YOU did. Work descriptions should be your chance to show how you impacted the job.
Get rid of objective. That is what the cover letter is for. Personally, if you apply to an IB analyst position your objective is obviously to get an IB analyst position. It is pretty self explanatory. You might want to talk more about school. Any activities that might offset your bad GPA?

Banking Resume
^^^^^^^bigmonkey31 is right
by sofib09^^^^^^^bigmonkey31 is right on all those points.
Also, for your personal portfolio, it should be "Inception", not "Conception"...they are two very different things.
If you build valuation models for your personal portfolio investments, then you may want to highlight that since your accounting experience really won't cut it...at least not in this market.
Thanks for the suggestions..
by Ken819Thanks for the suggestions.. will definitely incorporate them into my resume.
I'm actually more interested in something like asset management than investment banking, though because of my academic background I know I'm am not in a position to choose.
Hmm, I'd just be very
by Andrewr86Hmm, I'd just be very hesitant to put those kind of returns on a resume. I had several internships in asset management before going full time to IB, and I could just see the look of the interviewer when they see that on a resume. The first thought that pops in their mind is, ok we have a senior in college who may have 5-10k under management and picked a winner, great but how would you do with $100,000 when the markets tanking?
In other words, you may want to include that in a cover letter, I just know it will possibly turn a lot of people off.
Take off the objective asap -
by squawkboxTake off the objective asap
- I would not actually mention investment returns on a resume.
Remove the "Financial Experience" heading. It is not proper for a resume
Put your investment stuff under "Activities"
Work experience items need to start with past participles (end with -ed) worked cleaned bought developed
No GPA listed is a concern. You need at least a 3.50 to be fully considered by HR.
