Fired during internship - Put on resume for ibd job search or no ?!

My friend kept showing up late for work, leaving work early, and had a bad relationship with analysts..He ended up getting fired 1 month before his internship ended..When he does his next investment banking job search, should he even put it on his resume assuming the company has a big name? When they call up the company, would the employer just ask to make sure he really worked there? I was thinking maybe the HR would just say "yes he worked here between may and june" and not explicitly state that he was fired..

but hilarious. i had a buddy of mine who pulled a similar stunt like that but he was able last 3 months.

he had a good amount of experience going in so he didn't have much trouble landing a job, so he left the experience off his resume.

i have nothing constructive to say except asking the obvious: If his attitude toward work had him coming in late and leaving early (assuming he was in banking), then why does he want to search for a job in banking? Especially in this climate.

There's still time for him to find something for this summer, may not be in banking or even finance and probably unpaid, but something.

The world has changed. And we must change with it.

------------ I'm making it up as I go along.

I have never heard of anyone being fired from an internship. That is quite the accomplishment in itself and worthy of a resume line.

your friend sounds like a complete waste of life. id recommend new friends.

i don't know what you look for in your friends, but you seem like a really lame person. that kid sounds hilarious, and i bet he has some great stories.

as for all of you morons crying out, "Your FRIEND? Are you sure this isn't YOU we're talking about?" seriously, why would somebody make that up when they're already on an ANONYMOUS messageboard? i could understand if this were a forum where people had to identify themselves, but give me a break, you think this guy cares what you think about his anonymous username?

hey, you're that cliche guy who takes the high road and plays devil's advocate. his only description of this idiot is that he got fired from his job and you find him hilarious. clearly you lack standards but for some people, character is important and complete deadbeats just bring you down with them. i kno hilarious kids with plenty of awesome stores who HAVEN'T gotten fired from an internship for reasons as petty as that but i guess such actions are a prerequisite of what you consider "hip" and "hilarious". idiot

One of my friends worked in a BB last summer. One SA in his team, who got into the internship through some special program, was very sloppy. He was always late and sometimes did not even show up for the whole day. The team was not happy but thought that he would only be there for several more weeks anyway.. Then one day, their MD got a call from the POLICE asking him if he knew where XXX was. Apparently that SA did something stupid and the police was after him.. The MD was very pissed off. He told HR about the story and that guy was fired immediately.

how come there is never a single thread where people answer questions within getting into fights? lol

because 98% of the users on WSO are high school, college students with relatively little or no banking experience.

The world has changed. And we must change with it.

MD getting a call from the police. That's really pushing it on the intern's part.

That's really pushing it on the police's part. I call bullshit. That's harassment and libel, no police force would call your work without a conviction already in hand unless there is an imminent threat to public safety

If you want to get rid of a troublesome colleague though, that might be the way to go (note: impersonating a government employee is illegal, so try not to actually say you're a cop)
