I'm starting as an IB SA at a boutique tomorrow. My contact told me to come in business casual but does it make sense to go in with a full suit the first day, just in case?

Suit up, then lose the jacket
Suit up, then lose the jacket and tie if people say something
Business casual=no suit Tie
Business casual=no suit
Tie optional but perhaps recommended since can easily ditch and majority of incoming class be just as nervous hence be wearing a tie
remember to bring a belt my

my first day no belt, come at me
I'd have a tie in your bag
I'd have a tie in your bag just in case, but I wouldn't wear it. If they say business casual they mean no tie. I'd save the tie for client meetings and the day offers get handed out. I'm sure some of the other interns will show up wearing a tie, but why look like you're trying too hard?

Wear a solid suit (try to avoid pinstripes if you can), put a tie in your bag. Unbutton the top bottom of your dress shirt.. When you get there, you can hang up the jacket in a closet or drape it over your seat. Nice slacks and a dress shirt with no tie is still business casual but can be "business formal" in 2 minutes.

My first day was a Tuesday. I got a job at a P.E. firm and the MD was going to a meeting to source some new deals. I literally got a text at 7:30 in the morning while still asleep asking if I could attend the meeting. It was impromptu and became my first day. I had two days of interviews with the firm just before that - it was a last minute deal.

Thanks, this plan sounds perfect. The suit has pinstripes but they're very very thin.
I would suggest you wear
I would suggest you wear cutoff jorts and a Big Johnson T-shirt
