First Finance Internship Advice Needed

Hi,

I think this an awesome website although I am new to this forum and finance in general. Anyways, I just began an internship at a hedge fund, and its my first job which holds exposure to finance. I am 20 years old and am an accounting major in college. They obviously aren't expecting much from me as of now, but I have been working there for about a month and I don't really feel like I am making any progress. Most of the terms and talk around the office still sounds like it is another language, i am literally as uninformed as can possibly be.

How long did it take you guys at all you of your first internships to a) start picking things up, and b) when did you start contributing? and how much more difficult will it be considering i have no background in finance? Also, if anyone has any tips or advice it would greatly be appreciated (I am interested in eventually going into PE or HF's)

Thanks in advance.
