First Year lawlschool.

Hi everyone. First year law student. Interested in non-legal work since I realized I wanted to be a part of deals rather than the paperwork for them. Turned down litigation biglaw Summer yesterday to focus on other things this Summer.

Eventually looking for advice/telling people not to go to lawschool.

Interested in RE/RX since they intersect my interests in the legal field.

Good luck. I was in a similar predicament. It's a tough grind since you are just a JD and don't have on campus access to banks but with a lot of networking it can be done.

I am planning on going to law school next year, and I am interested in learning more about your experiences there and what makes it so unenjoyable and if there is anything I can do between now and september to make it easier on myself.

I mean law school is fine. Material isn't bad, I went out alot last semester and I did pretty well. Issue more or less is what I want to do with it.

You're doing way too much if you do anything between now and September beyond reading getting to maybe(I didn't read but it's highly recommended).

If anything you should be retaking the lsat for more scholly money in June if you aren't 170+ already.

Thanks so much! By getting to maybe, is that the book? "Getting to maybe: How to Excel at Law School Exams" Is that something the schools recommend or is it more something that the students all talk about?

Agree with getting to maybe tecommendation. Disagree with going out during 1L. If you want to be top 10, you aren't going out. If you want to be top 25 and are pretty bright (keep in mind everyone else is pretty bright in law school), you could probably make it. No one coasts to an A in a top law school.

MBA/JD. I agree that the ROI isn't there, but from a content standpoint law school is much more useful than B-school. Really b-school has no content at all. That said, b school is way more fun than law school.

But if purely an ROI focus, then ROI isn't there. That said, banks ate up the JD when I went through recruiting. Had good grades though -- had a buddy with bad grades and they weren't as impressed.
