Following up after an informational interview
Hi all,
Last Monday I spotted a vacancy for an IBD role at a large BB bank and emailed a VP working in that team to gauge some information on the division and role. We had a phone chat last week and he stated that I should apply for the post. I emailed a thank you and applied accordingly. I also emailed HR last Friday to state my application and was sent online tests which I completed three days back.
I have not heard anything yet and I know it is still early. I just wanted to know when and if, I should email HR to gauge an update on my application? Also the VP said I should email him if I have any further questions following my thank you email. Should I send him over a few questions this week which I did not ask during the phone chat to keep the relationship alive?
Thanks all!
Piers
I would wait until it's been a week since you took the online test and then follow up again with HR, as well as the VP. I wouldn't bombard the VP with questions, but rather mention that you applied online and ask if there is anything else you can do to best position yourself. He should get the hint.
What are the online tests like?
