Job market in Canada for CFA Charterholders
Hey guys!
I would soon be moving to Canada and was just wondering if anyone could shed some light on what the job market for CFA charterholders is like? I’ve got 2+ Equity Research experience in Asia and some experience in working at a corporate treasury. Ideally i would like to get in to a corporate finance or corporate strategy division and would like to stay in Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver but honestly wouldn’t mind moving in to a smaller city if there are better opportunities. I have the option of doing an MBA as well but wonder if the cost, which is likely to be CAD 100k+ is really worthwhile.
Any thoughts or insights on the matter would be highly appreciated
For a career changer in Canada, is it worth pursuing your CFA and trying to get a Research Associate position, or not worth it? (Originally Posted: 02/11/2016)
It's just the lack of jobs out there scares me. What do you think?
Where are you coming from and where are you planning on going? What are you current credentials?
I'm looking to make a career change from tech (computer science degree here). I was reading a lot about capital markets, IBs, etc...and, at least in Canada, the best path for someone like me would be to go into equity research. My only issue, I feel, is the lack of jobs. So small compared to Canada that I'm not sure if I should pursue it fully.
