Fresh Into Finance

Hey everyone,

So yeah, I am new here and fresh into the finance world out of college. I'll be honest, I am the first one in my family to tread in this realm so I am always in need of advice from someone who's been around the block. I currently am finishing up classes in college and have been hired on to start at CS as a valuation analyst. I was reading through what to expect and to get prepared, but what advice do you guys have? I kinda jumped on the offer immediately because it felt like it might be a great start in a great company. It is a contract position which concerns me a little, but hopefully I'll get converted. So questions.. Did I start in the right place? I'd like to have a successful career and be involved in the markets. Where can I expect to go from here? What kind of things will I be facing in the next few months? Needless to say I am excited and I know I have a lot to learn. So here I am. Thanks in advance!

Not to burst your bubble, but not only is CS somewhat of a declining franchise, but you did not exactly make it into traditional finance yet. Most people on this board would consider valuation analyst being a MO/BO role that may be closer to accounting than finance.
