Freshman, what to do?

As the title says, I'm a freshman at a top target (think HPY). I have an opportunity to write for a travel guide and get my expenses covered while roaming Europe for most of the summer. Originally I had planned to keep trying my luck at a finance internship, but the way the weekend's gone, I suspect nothing will turn up. Plus my travel writing offer expires soon, so I don't have much time...

Should I just go with it? I've heard it's a stressful, exhausting 24/7 job, but I think it'll be a blast and when else am I going to get paid for doing this. On the other hand, I feel like my friends are already starting finance internships their freshman summer, and I don't want to be viewed as the bum who didn't do anything relevant.

I think the work as a travel guide would be more beneficial in addition to being way more fucking fun. It would set you apart tremendously as well. Are you able to speak any other languages in the least bit? This could be an excellent opportunity for you to develop those skills all while having a great time.

I'm trilingual and had wanted to go to one of the countries where I could use language skills, but I'll be going to the UK. After my route, I might go to continental Europe though and just check it out. Haha thanks for the advice guys. I think I'm going to take the job, ride out the crappy economy, and pick up my stipend for "researching" bars and nightclubs.

dude. take some finance classes and be able to talk about them and put that together with what's happening in the market next year when you need a finance job. but that experience is amazing! take it! follow the market in europe- that will be relevant! do it!
