From banking to asset management, back to banking
Applying for an REIB analyst position tomorrow. I need help on how to spin something in my resume. The question about my background I'm probably most uneasy about is "you did a valuation internship and then a boutique banking internship. Then you worked for a year and a half in Asset Management, and now you want to go back to banking. Why didn't you just go into banking out of college?"
The real reason is that I didn't get a job at a bulge bracket bank. I liked the modeling work I did in my internships, and I also knew I wanted to go to business school eventually, so I primarily applied for banking jobs. But I knew I wanted to be in New York and not in Atlanta or Charlotte, so when jobs at better banks didn't pan out and the (albeit unique) opportunity at a very prestigious asset management firm came along I took it. I did not attend my superdays at two different 2nd tier bulge bracket banks (1 in Stamford, 1 in Atlanta).
Obviously this doesn't sound very appealing so I need some way to spin this.
Any ideas?
Any help would be much appreciated.
