Fucked Up Bad
Was gonna have a phone informational interview with a banker today. Guy told me to call his cell. Called his office line and no one picked up. Emailed him to reschedule for next week. 30 minutes later guy emailed back appearing not to have received the call. Checked phone history and realized I'd fucked up. Emailed him back to apologize for my mistake. Not yet to get a response.
How badly did I fuck up from 1-10? (It's Sunday.) Please do share stories of your fuck-ups to make me feel less bad. Appreciate it.

Elaborate? I thought it was really bad since we had to reschedule several times during the week whenever something came up on his end. And then on Sunday when he finally had some time to talk I fucked up the number. Am I overthinking this?
Yes. He doesn't think anywhere near as much about you as you think about you.
Attention to detail come on man!
LOL one time I had to exchange 19 (not kidding) emails with a banker to figure out logistics for meeting in NYC. The meeting went very well and we're still keeping in touch.
I don't know that I was ever able to schedule a call or meeting with a banker that took less than 10+ emails. They are busy and schedules shift.
Yeah, on a scale of fuck-ups this is a 1. I've been there--it feels horrible from your end but he probably barely remembered you were calling.
No. He probably knew that was a period in which he could talk but he didn't go off into a room and wait for you to call. That's why you were calling him and why it was on his cell not his desk.
I fucked up on informational interviews before too. Just forget about him and move on to the next one! Not every phone conversation goes well anyway, and he will definitely not remember this forever.
We've all messed up interviews. It's awful. But you learn from them. I interviewed at a BB once and messed up in the interview with a BSD. But then a month later the guy left. And then like 6 months later I was hired there. Another time I realized post interview that I had a weird blob of makeup on the side of my cheek that I hadn't blended in accurately. I thought to myself, "They must think I'm some weird makeup lady who can't even put herself together.".
I've done that kind of stuff before. Don't worry. Just send him an email next week, he will most likely have forgotten over the weekend.
"My apologies, I believe I dialed the wrong number last week. Would you have some free time to connect this week? Please let me know.
Thanks,"
