Get forwarded to HR, am I f**ked?

Hi everyone,

I have recently tried to cold email different bankers (in both US and other countries) and was hoping to set up informational interviews. I have reached out to a guy and he has forwarded my email to HR, mentioning my email is unsolicited. The HR asks me for further information. Will they blacklist me and am I f**ked up?

Were the HR Departments "Further Questions" about your qualifications or were they all related to how you got this individuals name and email address? If it wasn't only about the latter, then you are fine and you should take this as a semi-positive. If it was only about the former, well, then this guy just doesn't want to network but I don't think it's a blackball.

You are not blacklisted so don't worry about that. However, when your email/resume gets forwarded to HR, that is a neutral sign (not good, but not bad either). HR doesn't really decide who to hire. It's the business lines themselves They just push paper around (e.g. admin stuff and maybe the onboarding process). Just keep trying and hopefully you will eventually find someone who you connect with.
