Given recent primary results, does anyone else think Palin is going to be the Republican Nominee in 2012 if she runs

I really believe this, given how, essentially on her own, she was able to get O'Donnell the win over Castle in Delaware (and a big one at that) and Joe Miller the nod in Alaska. Tea Partiers have shown themselves to be good at two things:

-Being generally retarded
-Turning out in droves to support fellow tards

Did anyone actually think Castle was going to go down? And by that margin? Wow.

We can all thank John McCain for the current state of the Republican party. Thanks, John!

Here are some diehard supporters of Palin talking about their reasons for supporting her:

Just...wow.

The guy in Del wasn't really a Republican. He was more left wing than anything. The tea party might be extreme, but they have been a pretty strong force, uniting a fractured party.

You can thank Obama for Palin. What was McCain supposed to do? Nominate another old white guy? He made a calculated move with a female who had 1) Political experience as a governor and 2) a woman who would counteract the effect of the 1st black presidential candidate.

I love all the Palin hate. What was McCain supposed to do?? It was a calculated move, but still could not overcome the Obama effect.

um, no. you can thank mccain for palin. what was mccain suppose to do? pick a good vp, or at least someone that would have helped him get elected. its not like palin was the only qualified republican politician.

--- man made the money, money never made the man

i highly doubt palin will be republican nominee and i doubt she will get broad support of any kind from the GOP. its pretty damn obvious - even to republicans - that she is not 'presidential material'.

and i now hate john mccain for introducing palin to the world. wtf, john?

He could not pick a white male. Get real. Please list off some republican women who held appropriate office position to make the VP nomination legit? Get real. He could have picked another white man and guess what, he would of lost without a doubt.

The election is just as much about publicity as it is about legitimate skill and intelligence.

No way Palin will be nominated on the Republican ticket. That would be a complete Republican nightmare. Consistent polling shows that Americans do not believe Palin is qualified to be President of the United States.

And granted even though that 2012 election is two years away, polling consistently shows that Palin would be crushed by Obama by at least 2 to 1 in each and every poll that has been done.

I really can't see how someone whose foreign policy expertise coming from "being able to see Russia from her backyard" and absolutely no knowledge whatsoever about financial issues would do for this country.

I love powell, but you cannot nominate a black man for your VP when a black man was nominated for president. Bobby jidal? He is a weak candidate and only came into the scene recently. Women and black people are passionate voting blocks. McCain went for the women vote. It was strategy.

Back on topic, Palin is not going to be the republican candidate. What they need to do is start developing a real candidate. I think Palin will be like Rush or Newt, spiritual leaders, but not the face of the party.

And you're saying Palin was already a household name? Jindal could definitely have helped win that election. Don't see the problem with Powell.

Republicans are fine, Romney, Barbour, and Pawlenty could all win a national election. I do not see how Obama could possibly be in office come February 2013 considering his piss poor approval ratings and the fact that the Dem party will probably start to fall apart after this election in Nov.

1) You are not seeing the polar opposites when it comes to race, sex and elections. Dems came out with the 1st Black nominee. I 100% think Powell would of been a great candidate and I think he would have been a great President. In fact, I think the Dem's should have made him their running man since he was one of the few who disagreed with Bush and pretty much stepped down. I think Powell is qualified and would have been an amazing candidate, race aside.

With that said, you can't be the second guy with these things. McCain appointing him (supposing he would have said yes) to the VP spot would have looked desperate and "me to". If you have the opposite party electing a black man as their nominee you need to do something similarly ground breaking, but different. You need a woman. The Dems basically picked Obama over Hillary. A woman running mate would scoop up the female Dem vote. In fact, in the beginning, Palin did very well with the female vote. A perfect counter. Jindal would have done nothing. He would have been seen as a male vote, maybe got some of the Indian vote, but no dice. Indian's are not a minority here, regardless of the fact that they are a mathematical minority. Having a mexican VP would have done nothing since Hispanic voters are historically Dem's. A female Governor was the perfect play and thats why they chose Palin.

I love all this debate about how dumb Palin is as if any politician is a genius. They are all tools who say whatever they need to get elected. Obama might as well be a robot.

Come on now, haven't you heard of the Emancipation Proclamation? They get 3/5ths of a vote.
