In about a week, I have an interview with one of the big banks in the their global wealth management division here in Miami. What kind of questions should prepare for? Anything technical that I should look over (DCFvaluation, financial statement interaction, etc..)?
What year are you? I'm a freshman and for my PWM interview there were no tech questions, all fit... but I'm also doing it unpaid. Give us some more info so we can help.
Hahaha DCF...financial statements....you will not get anything that technical and besides those have NOTHING to do with GWM. Worst you will get is market related stuff, know the news (Japan), know the DJI/S&P, maybe asset allocation.
Do you even know what wealth management is? You better by the time you interview...
Yeah the only non-fit stuff you'll need is current event/market related and just be ready to pitch a stock if you have anything investment related on your resume.

So.. I have an interview for JPM's GWM 'Centralized Lending Team' Analyst role. What kind of questions should I anticipate for this role? Fit? Technical (if so, some examples?)..? Below is the description of the role.
-Assist CLT Lender in determining specific collateral value of marketable securities
-Prepare credit write ups and documentation for fully secured credit facilities
-Provide analysis on new credit opportunities to internal Team Partners, Senior Mgmt., and Credit Executives
-Manage Annual Review volume to ensure risk grading and Clients experience is not negatively impacted
-Assist in special projects such as portfolio reviews, credit and exposure reports
-Participate in regular credit training to continually enhance credit skills
-Communicate with Capital Advisors and other team members on rates on current facilities and collateral values
-Respond in a timely manner to Lender/ Banker/Client Service/Capital Advisor inquiries
If you guys could provide some examples of technical questions, it'd be really helpful. Thank you in advance.
I had an interview for a similar position, with another company. 99% of the questions were behavioral and fit based questions. I would suggest reading this:
Be prepared for some curveballs. Two I never saw coming (I still wouldn't if I were interviewing today):
-Did you just wake up this morning and decide you wanted to work at JPM?
-There are X similar banks doing Y, why do you want position Z specifically?
Both were delivered in a much more confrontational manner than the previous fit and general knowledge questions I had received. I expected surprise ambushes in certain interviews and not in others. Don't let your guard down or assume that the interview will go a certain direction based on the job description.
Some permutations of the first question I listed can come off as very rude, ex. "How do I know you didn't just wake up this morning and decide you want to work in finance?" Prepare a casual but sincere set of replies so that you don't get caught flat-footed.
BOA/ML Global Wealth & Investment Management 2010 Associate program (Originally Posted: 01/04/2010)
Applied for this and got a call today wanting to setup a 30m phone interview with someone from their Global Investment Solutions group. In the job description is states the following:
"Our Associate program is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to launch a successful career within the Global Wealth and Investment Management (GWIM) Business. The full time program is a direct placement program; while participants work directly in their business groups they receive training for one year. The program begins with a formal training about the company, business divisions, organizational structure, and product groups. The program also provides networking opportunities across the organization. "
Can anyone add some color to this and talk about what potential roles this could lead to within BOA/ML ? My background is strong in trading and would like to know if this could be a possible way in at the associate level.
Anything also in terms of what to expect from the phone call would be a huge help!
I'm not sure how the division is structured anymore about the ML acquisition.
I don't think its very different than working in a products group for any wm firm. Basically you will be doing due diligence & research on the products / strategies of the firm and relaying that information to the trust officers / advisors / brokers. I think most roles lead to management roles or consulting ones within the firm.
Again, it depends on the placement and the group you are placed in.
"Global Investment Solutions delivers high quality investment advice and product capabilities commensurate with their client segments & business channels. They provide investment solutions across all product platforms, including equity, debt and structured products, and alternative investments and deliver due diligence and cohesive investment management solutions for client portfolios."
Don't know if that helps or not, but at least now you know it's not to be an FA in their machine.

Was wondering if anyone had any information on how best to prepare for the meeting. What type of questions to expect (Fit/Technical??), and generally how best to present myself. I'm under a time crunch with this one. Would appreciate any help...thanks!!!

MSSB I assume
$20 on ML
yeah ML probably ..and lol @ DCF Financial Statement Analysis....its fit most of the time easy stuff
Yea, it's Merril Lynch... What gave it away?
I was expected to know valuation methods, FS analysis, etc for my portfolio management class, thus my assumption for technical questions.
Everyone on this thread owes me $20...

check PMs
Is this the same thing as Practice Management Development (PMD) Program for BofA/ML GWM?
According to OCR description:

I have a similar situation. Any info on that group and what to expect from an interview? Thanks.
