Go for an SA if FT fails?
So I'm a senior going through all the applications etc. and frankly, I'm nervous as hell because while my gpa is decent, I come from a non-target, my contacts are sub-par - par at most.
I was just curious, in the event that somehow I didn't end up with an FT offer, can I even try to apply for an SA position for 2013?
If you have nothing in the pipeline and it's December it might not be a bad idea. Just extend your grad date and stay another semester, they don't take recent grads for SAs in a structured program (in most cases).
Look into an MSF too. You'll get recruiting, a better name and an extra summer to intern. Downside is that it would be way more expensive to do a full year at a good program than it likely would be to stay another semester at your non-target (assuming its public) school. Your call.
Look into other fields and don't be too harsh on yourself.
Try to search whether you're really fit for finance.
The fact that you're asking these types of questions indicates that you're frustrated and that will get you no where.
Put your acts together and think it through.
Cheers,
Quint
