Goldman interview...in a bind..
Hey WSO family,
Back in July I applied to Goldman and was asked to interview via pre-recorded video in mid Aug (HireVue or whatever that software is called). I erroneously assumed that it was for IBD, which is what I applied for, but in reality it was actually for the Investment Management Division, which I apparently put down as a second choice on my app. I don't remember if it was mandatory or not to put alternate choices, but I did.
Anyways, last night around 22:00 I get an email saying congrats! that I was invited for a second round video conference. So now all of the sudden I find myself in the second round for IMD, not IBD..and I don't know much about it! However, I am still very much interested because I like the firm as a whole a lot.
Does anybody here know what the best options are in Goldman's IMD? How can I best prepare for the interview? The last couple weeks I've been studying for ibd interviews...
Thanks!
EDIT: This is for a 2017 summer analyst position
Is this summer analyst or full-time?
Sorry, I should have specified! This is for a 2017 summer analyst position. Do you know what the interviews are like? What the best options are in IMD? I was thinking equities or global solutions, really not sure though
Those are both great groups. I would also try something in their AIMS group (Alternate Investment Manager Selection) which is probably listed under "Strategies". I did a first round Hirevue interview for a different division for a full-time position on August 31 and was given until Sept 2nd to do it. Was the email you received last night the first thing you heard from Goldman since you did your Hirevue interview?
lol at you "like the firm as a whole". For what, dumping toxic assets onto the market, having to pay 5 billion dollars in fines, manipulating rates, working their employees to literal deaths? Or is that not included in your "like the firm as a whole". Just say you want money, power, and prestige so you like Goldman - we get it.
I am not sure why you received monkey shit, as what you pointed out are literal facts. As in, facts that have supporting evidence and are widely accepted as the indisputable truth.
To clear it up for the 20 year old kids browsing the site...
A 'fact' that you'll see on WSO: 'Well I must be smarter than you because I went to Harvard and you didn't'
An actual fact: A cheetah can run up to 75mph
